Who we are and what we actually do

Shorejournalq is a local-business service provider based in Nakuru, Kenya. We help individuals, households, and small enterprises with practical, day-to-day tasks that keep their properties and operations running — from scheduled maintenance visits to appointment-based support calls and on-site errands. We work primarily in Nakuru town and the surrounding Rift Valley area, serving clients from Milimani to the business strips along Kenyatta Avenue. Our clients range from solo landlords managing two or three rental units to small retail shops that need a reliable extra pair of hands without hiring full-time staff. In plain terms: if a task requires showing up in person, being organised, and doing it correctly the first time, that is where we come in. We are not a franchise or a national chain with a local office — we are a handful of people who live in Nakuru, know the area well, and have been doing this work since 2018.

How we work — and where we draw the line

Our process is straightforward: you describe what you need, we assess whether it falls within our scope, provide a written estimate, and schedule the work. We do not sub-contract without telling you — the person who quotes the job is connected to the person doing it. Since 2018 we have completed over 400 jobs across Nakuru, and roughly 60 percent of our work comes from returning clients or their referrals. That repeat-and-refer pattern tells us more about quality than any certificate on a wall. We value the azure-trust aesthetic not just in our branding — clear communication, honest timelines, and a reliable follow-up process are built into how every job is handled. That said, there are things we do not do: large-scale structural construction, certified electrical or plumbing sign-offs, medical advice, legal consultancy, or any project requiring a specialist licence we do not hold. For those needs we will be honest with you and, if we can, direct you to a registered professional in Nakuru who does. Results also depend on factors outside our control — supplier lead times, third-party access to a property, or weather for outdoor tasks. We flag those variables upfront rather than making promises we cannot keep.

“What sets Shorejournalq apart is that they never over-promise. The quote I received matched the final invoice exactly, and when a supplier part arrived late, they told me on the same day rather than letting me find out at the last minute. That kind of transparency is what keeps me coming back.”
